Job Description

Support student learning in an educational setting by providing expert sign language interpreting services. This rewarding contract role offers you the opportunity to facilitate communication and help foster inclusivity for students who are Deaf or hard of hearing. The assignment spans from now until late May 2027, allowing for both consistency and professional growth within a dynamic school community.

In this position, youll primarily provide 1:1 support to a student at Alliance Academy and work onsite only. The role combines part-time scheduled hours at Alliance Academy with additional part-time floating responsibilities, resulting in a full-time weekly schedule. Your experience and insights will help ensure students receive equal access and participation in classroom activities and school life.

What youll bring:

  • Hold a valid Georgia DOE Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) license (HR waivers are not accepted)
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and an understanding of Deaf culture
  • Ability to interpret in diverse educational settings
  • Professionalism, dependability, and collaborative spirit
  • Previous experience interpreting in school settings is highly valued

Key responsibilities:

  • Deliver accurate, clear sign language interpretation for 1:1 student sessions
  • Facilitate communication between students, staff, and peers
  • Adapt interpreting style to classroom discussions, lectures, and group activities
  • Support student access to academic content and social integration
  • Maintain confidentiality and ethical standards at all times
