Skilled Sign Language Interpreters are needed for a full-time contract position for the 2026-2027 school year. Key Qualifications:
- Virginia Quality Assurance Screening (VQAS) Level III certification, or
- Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) score of 3.5 or higher, with a passing written test score
- Alternative qualifications recognized as equivalent by the Virginia Department for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (VDDHH)
- Commitment to supporting diverse student needs in a school setting
- Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, staff, and families
Responsibilities:
- Deliver clear, accurate sign language interpretation for classroom lessons, assemblies, meetings, and campus activities
- Follow Individualized Education Program (IEP) requirements and communicate with teachers or staff to meet student needs
- Maintain professionalism and confidentiality at all times
- Serve as a bridge between students, teachers, and peers to promote inclusion
- Assist with language access during extracurricular activities or parent meetings when needed
- Maintain accurate interpretation logs or related documentation
This full-time contract runs from August 2026 through June 2027, with a weekly schedule of 37.5 hours, allowing you to dedicate attention to each student while enjoying the benefits of a school calendar.
