Job Description

Skilled Sign Language Interpreters are needed for contract roles supporting students in a dynamic educational setting near Fort Benning, GA. This is an excellent opportunity to provide essential services in a rewarding environment for the 2026-2027 school year. Two onsite interpreters are sought to assist with communication needs across various age groups within the district. Interviews will help determine candidate strengths and best-fit placements.

Key Qualifications:

  • Active Georgia Educator Certificate for Sign Language Interpreters (SLIs) with an EIPA score of 3.5 or higher
  • Candidates with close EIPA scores planning to re-take the exam are encouraged to apply; these applicants may be hired as SLI technicians and transition to full SLI roles during the school year
  • Strong proficiency with American Sign Language
  • Reliable organizational skillsdaily service documentation is required
  • Flexibility to discuss caseloads and age group preferences during the interview process
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and fostering an inclusive learning environment

Role Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students and staff within the classroom and other school activities
  • Adapt interpretation style to suit student age groups and educational contexts
  • Maintain accurate daily service records and logs
  • Collaborate with school staff to support student Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
  • Attend planning and transition meetings, as needed
  • Potential opportunity for pre-year and post-year planning participation

This full-time opportunity averages at least 37.5 hours per week, with consideration for part-time schedules based on program needs. The assignment runs from August 3rd, 2026 through May 21st, 2027.
