This contract opportunity is ideal for experienced Sign Language Interpreters passionate about facilitating access and equity for young learners in 1:1 and classroom environments. Youll work with pediatric students from Pre-K through Middle School, offering individualized support that makes a lasting impact on each students academic journey.
Key Qualifications:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL), with strong interpreting skills
- Experience supporting pediatric populations, particularly in grades Pre-K, Kindergarten, through 5th and Middle School
- Previous experience in educational or school-based settings
- Demonstrated ability to interpret in both 1:1 and group settings
- Familiarity with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) is a plus
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills
- Ability to adapt quickly to changing classroom environments and student needs
- Relevant certification or compliance with state interpreter standards
Your Responsibilities:
- Provide direct sign language interpreting services to students, connecting them with their peers, teachers, and the curriculum
- Facilitate clear and accurate communication between students and staff during instructional and non-instructional time
- Adapt interpreting methods to best fit the learning style and age of each student
- Support participation in classroom activities, ensuring comprehension and engagement
- Collaborate closely with teachers, special education teams, and families to maximize student success
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in all interactions
