Step into a supportive elementary school setting as a dedicated interpreter, where your skills in American Sign Language will make a real impact for young learners who are D/deaf or Hard of Hearing. In this contract role, youll be empowering students by facilitating seamless communication between them, their teachers, and the wider school communityensuring every voice is understood and included.
Key Qualifications:
- Successful completion of an Interpreter Training Program
- RID certification and/or EIPA assessment score of 4.0 or above (required per recent Washington State requirements)
- Valid Washington State Drivers License or reliable evidence of mobility
- Prior experience in school-based environments is desirable
Core Responsibilities:
- Deliver precise sign-to-voice and voice-to-sign interpretation in classroom settings and throughout the school
- Support compliance with IDEA, ADA, and related legal standards
- Enable accessibility and participation for D/HH students during instructional activities and school events
- Collaborate with teaching staff and assist with instructional activities as guided
- Foster an inclusive, accessible educational experience for students at one elementary school location
