Embark on a rewarding opportunity supporting students as an onsite Sign Language Interpreter for the upcoming 2026-2027 school year. This contract engagement runs from August 10, 2026, through May 27, 2027, with a full-time schedule of 37.5 hours per week. Desired Qualifications:
- Valid North Carolina licensure as a Sign Language Interpreter
- Demonstrated fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) and strong interpreting skills
- Prior experience facilitating communication in an educational environment, particularly with school-aged populations
- Professional demeanor and reliability for full onsite attendance
- Strong collaboration abilities when working alongside teachers, school staff, and families
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and adhering to state and district standards
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver clear and accurate sign language interpretation for one designated student (caseload 1:1) throughout the school day
- Interpret classroom instruction, group activities, and school events to ensure full inclusion and access to curriculum
- Assist educators in developing effective strategies for supporting communication needs
- Foster a positive, inclusive atmosphere that empowers student independence and engagement
- Maintain accurate records and support documentation as required by school policies
