Skills and Qualifications:

  • Current certification and licensure as a Sign Language Interpreter in North Carolina
  • Demonstrated experience interpreting in K-12 school settings highly preferred
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language, with a strong understanding of educational terminology
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for effective collaboration with students, staff, and families
  • Commitment to maintaining a supportive and accessible learning environment
  • Availability for onsite work exclusively; remote or hybrid options are not available for this position

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide accurate and age-appropriate sign language interpretation for a student on a 1:1 caseload
  • Facilitate communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students and teachers, staff, and peers
  • Support student access to curriculum, school activities, and extracurricular events as needed
  • Collaborate with educators and support teams to ensure inclusive services
