Key Qualifications:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and a strong command of both spoken and signed English
- Prior experience as a sign language interpreter in a school or similar setting is highly desirable
- Certification from an accredited interpreting program or recognized national organization (such as RID certification) preferred
- Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, staff, and students with diverse communication needs
- Professionalism, reliability, and adaptability in a dynamic educational environment
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide interpreting services for students, staff, and families in classrooms, meetings, and school-related events
- Assist in facilitating communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students and their peers, educators, and other school staff
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold ethical standards as defined by the profession
- Support students' learning and participation by accurately conveying the meaning, tone, and register of spoken and signed content
- Prepare for assignments by reviewing relevant vocabulary and educational material as needed
