Key Qualifications:

• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
• Previous experience interpreting in educational settings preferred
• Ability to accurately facilitate communication between deaf/hard-of-hearing students and staff
• Strong understanding of confidentiality and professional boundaries
• Flexibility and adaptability to meet a variety of classroom and school needs
• Commitment to supporting diverse learners in an inclusive environment
• National Interpreter Certification (NIC) or state credential strongly encouraged

Primary Responsibilities:

• Interpret classroom instruction, discussions, activities, and meetings for students and staff
• Collaborate with teachers and educational teams to support student learning and engagement
• Foster effective communication between students, staff, and families as needed
• Adjust interpreting strategies to match grade level, subject matter, and diverse student needs
• Participate in IEP meetings or other relevant planning sessions
• Maintain clear, confidential records in line with school protocols
