Job Description

This opportunity is for an Educational Sign Language Interpreter providing essential communication support in a K-12 school setting located in Elida, NM. The contract position spans from ASAP through May 21, 2026, working 32 hours per week, Monday through Thursday, from 7:45 a.m. to 4:15 p.m.

In this role, you will interpret one-on-one with a preschool student and support sign language exposure for students in grades 1 through 8. Your expertise will facilitate meaningful access to instruction and communication, contributing to an inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide clear and accurate American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation for individual students and small groups
  • Support classroom instruction by facilitating effective communication between students, educators, and staff
  • Adapt interpreting techniques to meet the diverse needs of students across multiple grade levels
  • Collaborate with educational teams to ensure appropriate accommodations and support are in place

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Current valid Educational Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) license in New Mexico
  • Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) demonstrated through experience or certification
  • Experience interpreting within school settings or working with K-12 students preferred
  • Strong communication, organizational, and collaborative skills
