An exciting opportunity is available for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to provide professional communication services within school settings. This role involves travel to various schools, offering dynamic work environments throughout the region. Key Responsibilities:

  • Interpret spoken language into American Sign Language (ASL) and vice versa during classroom instruction, meetings, and school events.
  • Collaborate closely with teachers, students, and support staff to ensure clear communication and accommodation.
  • Adapt interpreting techniques to diverse educational content and student needs.
  • Maintain confidentiality and uphold ethical standards in all interactions.
  • Participate in professional development to stay current with interpreting standards and educational requirements.
  • Travel between multiple school locations within the assigned area to provide consistent interpretation services.

Desired Qualifications and Experience:

  • Proven experience as a Sign Language Interpreter in educational settings.
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and strong understanding of Deaf culture.
  • Familiarity with educational terminology and classroom dynamics.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to travel reliably within the region.
  • Certification or accreditation in sign language interpretation preferred but not required.
