Job Description
Take on a rewarding role supporting students by providing vital sign language interpreting services in a vibrant K-12 educational environment for the 2026-2027 school year. This is a full-time, onsite contract opportunity located in southern Oregon, serving a diverse caseload across both Rosenburg and Douglas, OR. Multiple positions are availablebring your expertise and passion for accessible learning to schools that value inclusive communication.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid Oregon Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) certification or licensure is required
- Demonstrated proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and interpretation within educational settings
- Previous experience interpreting for K-12 students is highly preferred
- Strong commitment to fostering communication access for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students
- Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills for working with students, educators, and staff
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work consistently onsite throughout the entire contracted school year
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide clear, accurate interpretation between spoken English and ASL in classroom and school settings
- Support K-12 students by facilitating communication during lessons, activities, assemblies, and meetings
- Collaborate closely with teachers, special education staff, and administrators to ensure full participation for Deaf/Hard of Hearing students
- Adhere to all district and professional guidelines for confidentiality and ethical interpreting practices
- Maintain accurate daily service records and participate in required training or professional development
