Key Qualifications & Experience:

• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
• Previous interpreting experience in educational or school-based settings strongly preferred
• Comfort working with students across various ages and grade levels
• Knowledge of relevant federal and state laws (e.g., IDEA, ADA) regarding special education and interpreting
• Ability to collaborate with teachers, staff, families, and external providers
• RID or EIPA certification is highly desirable

Core Responsibilities:

• Interpret spoken language into ASL (and vice versa) accurately during classroom instruction, group activities, assemblies, and school events
• Facilitate clear and effective communication between students, teachers, and peers
• Maintain strict confidentiality and professionalism at all times
• Assist educators in understanding the unique needs of students who are deaf or hard of hearing
• Adapt interpreting style and strategies to fit the setting and age group
• Support inclusion by helping students participate fully in both academic and extracurricular activities
