This contract opportunity extends through May 2027, offering a unique chance to work one-on-one with students while also providing support as a floating interpreter across assigned locations. Your expertise will help bridge communication within classrooms, ensuring equal access to learning for Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing students.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Current, valid Georgia DOE Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) License is required
- Must meet all state-mandated credentialing; no HR waivers available
- Demonstrated experience providing interpreting services in educational or similar environments
- Proficient in American Sign Language and familiarity with interpreting protocols in academic settings
- Strong interpersonal and communication abilities
- Professional, flexible, and collaborative team approach
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver clear, accurate interpretation between spoken English and ASL for students, teachers, and staff
- Serve as a dedicated 1:1 interpreter, primarily onsite at Alliance Academy, with additional duties as a floating interpreter across campus assignments
- Support students participation in instruction, activities, and school events
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional and ethical standards
- Collaborate with team members to accommodate student and classroom needs
- Complete required documentation and reports in a timely manner
