Job Description

Desired Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and other communication modes for Deaf and Hard of Hearing individuals
  • Experience in educational environments, with a clear understanding of student support needs
  • Ability to interpret in both classroom and extracurricular settings
  • National certification or relevant credentials (such as EIPA, RID, or state certification) strongly preferred
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and a collaborative approach to working with teachers, specialists, and administrators
  • Strong ethical standards and respect for confidentiality
  • Flexibility and adaptability in dynamic school environments

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide accurate interpretation between spoken English and sign language during classroom instruction, assemblies, meetings, and school activities
  • Support students access to curriculum and active participation in the school community
  • Collaborate with educational teams to adapt and deliver instructional content
  • Assist in fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students
  • Maintain clear and professional communication with staff, families, and administration regarding student needs
  • Uphold professional standards and maintain confidentiality at all times
