This role involves travel to various school locations in the Des Plaines, IL area, providing vital communication assistance to ensure accessibility and inclusion for deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals.

Key Responsibilities:

• Interpret spoken language into American Sign Language (ASL) and vice versa during classroom instruction, meetings, and events.
• Facilitate effective communication among students, teachers, and staff members.
• Collaborate with educators to support lesson delivery and student engagement.
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional codes of conduct.
• Adapt interpretation methods to suit various educational and social contexts.
• Travel to assigned schools within the Des Plaines area as required.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Proficiency in American Sign Language with certification preferred.
