Job Description

Make a meaningful impact in a students educational experience as an onsite Sign Language Interpreter in the Toccoa, GA area. In this contract opportunity, youll provide essential support for a middle school student in a self-contained classroom setting, facilitating access and participation in classroom activities.

If you meet the following criteria, you could be the perfect fit:

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3.5 EIPA score or higher.
  • Valid interpreter license through GaPSC.
  • Experience working with school-aged children, preferably in educational settings.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in American Sign Language interpretation.
  • Ability to collaborate with teachers, staff, and families to support student engagement.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Deliver accurate, expressive ASL interpretation for one 6th or 7th grade student in a self-contained academic environment.
  • Ensure clear communication between the student, peers, and teachers throughout the school day.
  • Adapt interpreting methods to accommodate classroom activities and individualized learning needs.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional and ethical standards.
  • Work collaboratively with educational teams, supporting the students IEP goals.

Position Details:

  • 32.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday, or 16 hours per week, Tuesday and Wednesday only.
  • Serve as a vital link supporting one student, helping them access classroom instruction and activities.
