As an onsite Sign Language Interpreter, you will play a vital role in fostering inclusive learning environments and supporting student achievement in schools near Decatur, AL.
In this contract position, you'll enjoy the stability of a full-time schedule with 37.5 hours per week, collaborating closely with educators and students to facilitate clear and meaningful interaction in and out of the classroom.
What Were Looking For:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Active state license or permit from the Alabama Licensure Board for Interpreters and Transliterators (ALBIT).
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL).
- Previous experience working with Deaf and Hard of Hearing students in educational settings is preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Flexibility and dedication to advocating for student needs.
Your Key Responsibilities:
- Provide accurate, timely interpretation between ASL and spoken English for students during classroom instruction, school events, and meetings.
- Support students understanding of educational content and participation in academic and extracurricular activities.
- Collaborate with educators and other staff to promote inclusive practices.
- Maintain a high level of professionalism, confidentiality, and ethics.
