Job Description

Key Qualifications:

  • Valid Alabama SLI license required
  • EIPA certification highly preferred
  • Previous experience with educational interpreting, particularly in schools or pediatric settings, is a plus
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Committed to fostering an inclusive and accessible classroom experience
  • Able to work full-time during regular school hours (no weekends!)
  • Positive attitude and collaborative team spirit

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide accurate and effective sign language interpretation for students, ensuring clear communication between students, staff, and peers
  • Collaborate closely with educators, school staff, and students to support learning objectives and accessibility
  • Adapt to varied communication needs, educational content, and activities
  • Maintain professional confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in all interactions
  • Participate in IEP meetings and contribute valuable input regarding students communication preferences
  • Stay up to date with best practices and educational tools for interpreting in school settings
