Key Qualifications:
- Valid Alabama SLI license required
- EIPA certification highly preferred
- Previous experience with educational interpreting, particularly in schools or pediatric settings, is a plus
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Committed to fostering an inclusive and accessible classroom experience
- Able to work full-time during regular school hours (no weekends!)
- Positive attitude and collaborative team spirit
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide accurate and effective sign language interpretation for students, ensuring clear communication between students, staff, and peers
- Collaborate closely with educators, school staff, and students to support learning objectives and accessibility
- Adapt to varied communication needs, educational content, and activities
- Maintain professional confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in all interactions
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute valuable input regarding students communication preferences
- Stay up to date with best practices and educational tools for interpreting in school settings
