A full-time Sign Language Interpreter position is available in a school setting located in Decatur, AL. This role involves providing onsite interpretation services for K-12 students, ensuring effective communication between students, educators, and staff. The position is a contract assignment, ideal for qualified individuals passionate about supporting the educational needs of deaf and hard-of-hearing students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate communication by interpreting sign language for K-12 students in the classroom and school environments.
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and support staff to create an inclusive learning experience.
- Maintain accurate records and comply with school policies and interpretation standards.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance skills and service quality.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid Alabama Sign Language Interpreter (AL SLI) license required.
- Experience working as a sign language interpreter in educational settings preferably with K-12 caseloads.
- Strong understanding of deaf culture and educational accommodations.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
