Job Description

Desired Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with a high level of fluency.
  • Experience interpreting within a K-12 educational environment is strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with IEP processes and relevant educational accommodations.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, and administration.
  • State or nationally recognized certification (such as RID, EIPA) is an asset.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide clear, accurate interpretation between spoken English and American Sign Language during classroom instruction, school meetings, and other activities.
  • Adapt communication methods to meet the diverse needs of students across grade levels.
  • Assist in creating accessible learning environments to support student participation and engagement.
  • Collaborate with educators to understand lesson content and desired communication outcomes.
  • Maintain professionalism and confidentiality in all interactions.
  • Contribute insights to IEP meetings as requested to support student progress and accommodation planning.
