The student, equipped with cochlear implants, hearing aids, and an ALD device, identifies as hearing but relies on sign language for classroom communication. Your skills will be crucial during instructional periods, helping bridge communication and foster an inclusive learning environment as the student transitions back from a Residential Day School Program.

Key Qualifications:

  • Prior experience as a Sign Language Interpreter in educational settings
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to effectively support students with diverse hearing needs
  • Current licensure and credentials required for interpreting in schools

Responsibilities:

  • Provide ASL interpretation for instructional times on Fridays (average 6.5 hours per day)
  • Collaborate with teachers, staff, and another language facilitator (job share arrangement)
  • Interpret spoken communication, ensuring information is accessible and accurate
  • Support the student's participation and engagement during classroom activities
  • Step in as a substitute when the primary facilitator (Monday-Thursday) is unavailable

This contract runs from August 12, 2026, through May 27, 2027. The assignment focuses on maximizing the student's access to curriculum and school life, while allowing for work-life balance with a Fridays-only schedule.
