Key Qualifications:
- Valid Illinois (IL) Sign Language Interpreter license required
- Experience working with high school students preferred
- Knowledge of current best practices for interpreting in educational settings
- Ability to collaborate professionally with educators and support staff
- Familiarity with Individualized Education Programs (IEP) processes a plus
- Strong interpersonal, listening, and communication skills
Responsibilities:
- Provide real-time sign language interpretation for high school students in classroom and school-related activities
- Support equal access to curriculum, instruction, and school communications
- Adapt interpreting services to meet individual student needs and learning styles
- Work with teachers, special education staff, and administrators to promote student success
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all district and state regulations
- Complete required documentation and participate in team meetings as needed
