Bring your passion for communication and support to a vibrant school community as a Sign Language Interpreter. This is a rewarding contract opportunity in New Bern, NC, providing full-time hours and the chance to make a lasting impact in the classroom. Work one-on-one with a kindergarten student, facilitating meaningful participation and growth through your expertise in sign language. The assignment begins immediately and continues through May 28, 2026.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid Sign Language Interpreter certification with an EIPA score
- Experience or expertise working with young children in an educational setting
- Strong ASL skills with the ability to effectively facilitate communication in a classroom
- Professionalism, adaptability, and a collaborative approach with educators and support staff
- A passion for empowering students with diverse communication needs
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct 1:1 interpreting services to a kindergarten student throughout the school day
- Foster engagement and understanding during classroom instruction, activities, and school events
- Collaborate with teachers, aides, and school professionals to address individualized student needs
- Maintain confidentiality and promote a supportive environment for student learning and social development
- Adhere to ethical standards and compliance guidelines for interpreters in educational settings
