Job Description
Step into a rewarding role supporting students as an onsite Sign Language Interpreter. This full-time contract opportunity offers the chance to make a real difference in the lives of children and young adults. Based near Columbus, GA, youll collaborate with school teams and families, ensuring equal access and inclusion for students who are deaf or hard of hearing. The assignment will run from as soon as possible through May 21st, 2027, with potential planning days outside of standard dates. Flexibility is possible for those preferring part-time worklets discuss your availability and strengths.
Desired Qualifications:
- Current Georgia Educator Certification for Sign Language Interpreters, with an EIPA score of 3.5 or higher
- Alternatively, SLI Paras with close EIPA scores and a commitment to re-take the exam may be consideredthis district supports growth and offers advancement to full interpreter roles during the school year
- An understanding of the unique needs within K-12 educational environments
- Strong collaboration, communication, and documentation skills
- Willingness to complete daily service logs for accountability and student progress tracking
- Openness to interviewing with the school district to determine best age group and caseload match based on your experience and preferences
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide high-quality sign language interpreting services in various classroom and school settings
- Adapt interpretation style to meet each students academic and social needs
- Work closely with a team of educators to support individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Maintain accurate, daily logs of services provided
- Foster student engagement and advocacy through supportive, accessible communication
