Job Description
Make an impact in students' lives by supporting communication and inclusion as an onsite Sign Language Interpreter for the 20262027 school year. Four dedicated interpreters are needed in a school setting; this contract role covers full-time hours (at least 37.5 per week), with consideration for part-time availability depending on the number of hours. You'll play a vital part in connecting Deaf and hard-of-hearing students with classroom activities and peers while collaborating closely with teachers and educational staff.
Position Details:
- School year runs August 3, 2026, through May 21, 2027, with possible pre/post planning days.
- Caseloads will be determined based on students' needs and your experienceyour preferences for age group or specific settings are considered in placement.
- Candidates must be comfortable maintaining daily service logs.
- This opportunity requires onsite presence, supporting students across a variety of classrooms and activities.
Qualifications:
- Active Georgia Educator Certification for Sign Language Interpreters.
- Minimum EIPA score of 3.5.
- Previous experience in educational interpreting strongly preferred.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and documentation skills.
- Ability to adapt to different student needs and school environments.
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professional boundaries.
Responsibilities:
- Facilitate effective communication between Deaf/hard-of-hearing students and the school community.
- Provide accurate and fluent interpreting for classroom instruction, discussions, and activities.
- Collaborate with teachers and school staff to promote student inclusion and participation.
- Maintain daily logs to document interpreting services.
- Engage in professional development to support best practices in educational interpreting.
