Job Description

Step into a rewarding contract role as a Sign Language Interpreter supporting students in an educational environment. This full-time position runs from August 3, 2026, through May 21, 2027, with the potential for additional pre- and post-planning days. The assignment is based onsite, providing vital communication access for students throughout the school year.

Key Qualifications:

  • Hold an active Georgia Educator Certificate for Sign Language Interpreters
  • Achieved an EIPA score of 3.5 or higher
  • Comfortable working onsite in a school environment near Columbus, GA
  • Capable of completing daily service logs and documentation
  • Flexibility to collaborate with the district in determining ideal age group placements, based on experience or preference
  • Experience as a sign language interpreter in educational settings is highly valued

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Deliver sign language interpretation for students and staff during classroom instruction, activities, and meetings
  • Maintain accurate and detailed daily documentation of services provided
  • Adapt interpretation methods to suit various grade levels and learning situations
  • Collaborate with district staff to help match your strengths with classroom needs
  • Adhere to all ethical and confidentiality guidelines related to educational settings

Additional Details:

  • Full-time schedule of at least 37.5 hours per week, with the possibility of considering part-time hours depending on candidate availability
  • Caseload will be discussed and tailored during the interview process, allowing for input on age group preferences and specific experience
