Share your expertise in American Sign Language as an integral support for elementary students. This contract-based position offers the rewarding opportunity to work closely with a diverse group of young learners, providing essential interpreting services throughout the academic year.

This opportunity places you at a single location, focusing on one school and a manageable caseload. You will be collaborating daily with educators and support staff to ensure students who are Deaf or hard of hearing have equitable access to classroom instruction and activities, fostering a rich and inclusive learning environment.

Key Qualifications:

• Proficient communication skills in American Sign Language (ASL)
• Current Intervener Certification is required
• Prior experience as a Sign Language Interpreter in a school setting is strongly preferred
• Flexibility and adaptability in supporting multiple students with varying needs
• Excellent collaboration and interpersonal skills, comfortable working with educators, administrators, and families

Primary Responsibilities:

• Provide real-time interpretation for students in elementary grades, facilitating clear communication in classroom instruction, group activities, and individual support sessions
• Partner with teachers and staff to adapt instructional materials or clarify concepts for students when needed
• Monitor student understanding and actively support each learners educational goals
• Ensure confidentiality and uphold ethical standards within all interactions
• Maintain documentation as required for student progress and communication needs
