Job Description

Make a meaningful impact by supporting student access to education as an Onsite Sign Language Interpreter in the Toccoa, GA area! This contract position is ideal for skilled interpreters passionate about facilitating communication in a supportive school setting. You will work directly with one student in a self-contained classroom, helping bridge communication and enhance learning for a 6th or 7th grader.

Qualifications:

  • 3.5 or higher score on the EIPA assessment
  • Valid interpreter license issued through GaPSC
  • Previous experience providing sign language interpretation, especially in school environments, is a plus
  • Strong commitment to fostering inclusive educational experiences
  • Willingness to collaborate with teachers, staff, and families

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver clear and accurate sign language interpretation for one middle school student
  • Translate spoken language from staff and peers into sign language and vice versa
  • Support the students participation in all classroom activities
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical guidelines for interpreters
  • Cooperate closely with educators and other support staff to enhance student success

Position Details:

  • Choose between full-time (32.5 hours/week, Monday to Friday) or part-time (16 hours/week, Tuesday & Wednesday) schedule options
  • Work with just one student in a consistent, structured environment
  • Serve as a positive role model and communication link for a student eager to learn
