Job Description

Step into a rewarding school-based contract position supporting a middle school student as a Sign Language Interpreter. This full-time opportunity offers 3035 hours per week and centers on providing 1:1 interpreting services for an 8th-grade student who is hard of hearing. You'll work within an education-focused environment, partnering directly with the student to facilitate communication in both academic and social settings, ensuring they receive optimal support throughout their school day.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Colorado Sign Language Interpreter (CO SLI) license required
  • Prior experience in educational settings, particularly with middle school students, is preferred
  • Solid understanding of American Sign Language (ASL)
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset
  • Ability to adapt interpreting approaches to suit individual student needs

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver interpretation services in classrooms and throughout the school day for a single middle school student
  • Foster an inclusive, supportive environment by bridging communication between the student, teachers, and peers
  • Maintain confidentiality and uphold professional standards related to educational privacy
  • Work closely with school staff and special education team members to address student goals and needs
  • Assist with understanding assignments, instructions, and school activities in real time
