Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL)
  • National Registry of Interpreters of the Deaf certification, or a score of 4.0 or higher on the EIPA, ESSE-I/R, or NAD/ACCI assessment
  • Open to candidates with EIPA under 4.0 (these applicants will be titled as ASL Para)
  • Candidates fluent in ASL with an Associates degree are encouraged to apply
  • Experience or willingness to support students across elementary and intermediate grade levels
  • Ability to provide both sign-to-voice and voice-to-sign interpretation
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support communication among deaf or hard of hearing students, hearing peers, educators, and school staff
  • Interpret spoken English and ASL in classrooms and during school activities
  • Assist students with academic subjects including reading, writing, and math
  • Work with students to help develop vocational and living skills as needed
  • Supervise and monitor students throughout the school day, both indoors and during community or outdoor events
  • Maintain a supportive, inclusive classroom environment

This full-time position runs approximately 30 hours per week (6 hours each day) and offers job security for the entire school year. Candidates can express a preference for elementary or intermediate assignments.
