Your expertise in American Sign Language will help foster inclusion and ensure effective communication for deaf and hard-of-hearing students from the start of the school year through early June. With a full-time, 35-hour work week and generally one school assignment, you can truly make a difference while developing connections with students and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver interpretation services for classroom instruction, assemblies, and school events
  • Facilitate clear communication between students, educators, and peers
  • Adapt interpreting style to suit various age groups and educational settings
  • Collaborate with educators and support staff to create an inclusive atmosphere
  • Maintain professionalism and confidentiality in all interactions
  • Support students social and academic engagement

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in American Sign Language and experience interpreting in school settings
  • EIPA of 3.5+ or VQAS 3 preferred; candidates with an EIPA 3.0 or VQAS 2 are welcome, with the willingness to improve certification within three years
  • Flexibility in caseload preference and openness to working across age groups
  • Positive, adaptable attitude with a commitment to student growth
