This opportunity is for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to provide support within a school environment. The position involves travel assignments, offering the chance to work in various educational settings while utilizing your expertise in American Sign Language to facilitate effective communication for students and staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret spoken language into American Sign Language (ASL) and vice versa during classroom instruction and school activities
- Ensure clear and accurate communication between Deaf or hard-of-hearing students and educators
- Collaborate with teachers and support staff to promote an inclusive learning environment
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times
- Adapt interpreting techniques to different educational settings and individual student needs
Desired Qualifications:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language with certification preferred
- Experience working as a sign language interpreter in schools or related environments
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to travel to different school locations as needed
- Understanding of educational terminology and procedures
Location and Travel: Assignments will be based in the Cary, NC area, with travel to surrounding schools as part of the role.
