Job Description
Make a meaningful impact in the Santa Barbara area as a full-time Sign Language Interpreter supporting local schools. This is an in-person, contract opportunity ideal for professionals who are passionate about bridging communication and fostering inclusive educational environments.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Valid Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) Certification in California
- Solid experience interpreting in educational settings
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to adapt to diverse situations and work collaboratively with students and staff
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide accurate interpretation between students, staff, and faculty in a school setting
- Support students who are deaf or hard of hearing to access curriculum and school activities
- Translate both spoken and written communication as needed during classes, meetings, and events
- Collaborate with teachers, special education teams, and administrators to best support student needs
- Maintain confidentiality, professionalism, and ethical standards in all interpreting assignments
