A full-time Sign Language Interpreter position is available in the Santa Barbara, CA area, offering a dynamic opportunity to provide essential communication support within a school setting. This in-person role requires a valid California Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) certification and a strong commitment to facilitating effective communication for students and staff.
Key responsibilities include:
- Interpreting spoken language into sign language and vice versa to support classroom instruction and school activities.
- Assisting students, teachers, and staff in various educational environments to ensure accessibility and inclusion.
- Collaborating with educators and support personnel to facilitate communication during meetings, events, and daily interactions.
- Maintaining confidentiality and adhering to professional standards in all interpreting assignments.
Qualifications and desired experience:
- Valid California SLI certification is mandatory.
- Proven experience as a sign language interpreter in educational settings preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills and the ability to work effectively with children and adults.
