Job Description
A full-time, contract Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) position is available in the Santa Barbara, CA area, supporting K-12 schools in Carpinteria. This role requires in-person work during the current school year (CSY) and offers the opportunity to facilitate communication for deaf and hard-of-hearing students in an educational setting.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid California Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) Certification
- Experience interpreting in K-12 school environments preferred
- Strong knowledge of American Sign Language (ASL) and deaf culture
- Ability to work full-time hours onsite
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide accurate and effective sign language interpretation between students, teachers, staff, and parents
- Support inclusion and collaboration in classroom and school activities
- Assist with communication access during meetings, events, and extracurricular activities
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional ethical standards
