Job Description
A school district in the Fort Myers area is seeking two skilled Sign Language Interpreters to support K-12 students. This contract position offers a full-time schedule, working 37.5 hours per week across five days, providing critical communication access for students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
Qualifications:
- Valid Sign Language Interpreter credentials or certifications
- Minimum EIPA score of 3.0 or higher
- Experience working with K-12 age groups preferred
- Strong ability to facilitate clear and effective communication between students, teachers, and support staff
Responsibilities:
- Interpret spoken language into sign language and vice versa to support deaf or hard of hearing students in classroom settings
- Collaborate closely with educators to ensure all students can fully participate in academic activities
- Maintain professionalism and confidentiality while working within a school environment
- Assist with communication between families and school personnel when necessary
