Make a meaningful impact in educational settings by supporting students as a skilled Sign Language Interpreter. In this contract position, youll work closely with a high school student to bridge communication and foster an inclusive learning environment. The role requires in-person presence near Oxnard, CA, with a consistent weekly schedule that allows for work-life balance.
Key Qualifications:
- Active Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) certification OR a passing score of 4.0+ on the Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA)
- Prior experience interpreting within school or educational environments
- Strong American Sign Language (ASL) proficiency
- Ability to work effectively 1:1 with students and collaborate with educational teams
Position Schedule:
- Monday-Thursday:
- Period 2: 10:18 AM 11:48 AM
- Period 3: 12:29 PM 1:59 PM
- Friday (hours may be slightly adjusted):
- Period 2: 10:36 AM 11:50 AM
- Period 3: 12:31 PM 1:45 PM
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide accurate and confidential interpretation for a high school student, facilitating seamless communication among students, teachers, and staff
- Maintain professionalism and confidentiality in all interactions
- Support student access to classroom instruction and school activities
- Collaborate with teachers and other staff to promote student success
