Job Description

Seeking an experienced Sign Language Interpreter for a dynamic school setting with travel opportunities based in Burlington, ND. This role involves providing high-quality interpreting services to support students with hearing impairments, ensuring full access to classroom instruction and school activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate accurate and effective communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students and their teachers, peers, and school staff.
  • Interpret spoken language into American Sign Language (ASL) and vice versa during classroom lessons, meetings, and extracurricular activities.
  • Adapt interpreting techniques to various educational environments and student needs.
  • Collaborate with teachers, counselors, and support staff to enhance communication accessibility.
  • Travel between school sites within designated areas as required to fulfill assignment needs.

Preferred Qualifications and Experience:

  • Proficiency in American Sign Language and knowledge of educational interpreting best practices.
  • Experience working as a sign language interpreter in school or educational settings.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all situations.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Flexibility and willingness to travel to multiple school locations as assigned.
