Job Description

Step into a meaningful contract opportunity supporting a kindergarten student as a Sign Language Interpreter in a welcoming educational environment near Bunker Hill, IN. This full-time assignment runs through June 2027, with the chance to directly impact a young learners success. Initially, youll provide 1:1 ASL services for one day per week while spending the remainder of your time as a valued paraprofessional supporting the school community. As the students schedule expands, so will your role delivering ASL support throughout the school day.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) Certification for Indiana
  • Minimum 3.5 EIPA score and passed written assessment (or a scheduled test date, with district willingness to approve those with the written in process)
  • Prior experience in a school or pediatric setting is beneficial
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative mindset
  • Ability to work onsite and adapt within a dynamic K-12 environment

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct American Sign Language interpretation for a kindergarten student, ensuring consistent and accessible communication
  • Accompany the student across classrooms and in group settings, fostering inclusion throughout the school day
  • Fulfill paraprofessional duties as needed, supporting instructional activities and broader student engagement
  • Communicate effectively with educators, staff, and families to provide updates on student progress
  • Adjust services and support as the students attendance and schedule expand
