Step into a vital role supporting student communication and growth as a Sign Language Interpreter within a dynamic educational environment near Buford, GA. This contracted position offers a unique opportunity to make an impact by providing one-on-one interpreting services for students who are deaf or hard of hearing. Youll work part-time onsite at Alliance Academy and part-time in a floating capacity, collaborating closely with faculty and staff to facilitate inclusive education.
Were seeking individuals ready to start as soon as possible, with a commitment through May 27th, 2027. The schedule is full time, offering stability and the chance to truly immerse yourself in the school community.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Valid GA DOE Sign Language Interpreter License (no HR waivers will be accepted)
- Skilled in American Sign Language (ASL) with fluency in both expressive and receptive interpretation
- Previous experience interpreting in K-12 settings preferred
- Ability to work effectively one-on-one and adapt communication styles for student needs
- Professionalism, reliability, and a collaborative spirit
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct sign language interpretation for a student in a 1:1 setting
- Ensure accurate, culturally appropriate communication between student, peers, and staff
- Adjust interpreting methods to support classroom participation and individualized education goals
- Move between Alliance Academy and other designated sites as required by the floating caseload
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards set by industry and district guidelines
