An opportunity is available for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter (ASL) to provide support within a K-12 Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) classroom setting. This full-time, onsite position focuses on facilitating clear communication and inclusion for students in a structured educational environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret communication between teachers, students, and staff in K-12 DHH classrooms.
- Ensure accurate and effective sign language interpretation aligned with educational content.
- Collaborate with educators and support personnel to meet students' individual communication needs.
- Maintain strict confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions.
Qualifications:
- EIPA score of 4.0 or higher.
- Licensed as a Michigan interpreter through LARA.
- Candidates with an EIPA score between 3.5 and 3.9 may be considered if:
- The score was obtained within the last 24 months.
- Required continuing education units (CEUs) have been completed.
- Director waiver for employment is obtained.
- Ability to work full-time onsite in Brooklyn, Michigan.
