Sign Language Interpreter Responsibilities

• Provide interpreting services for students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing

• Facilitate effective communication between students, teachers, staff, and peers

• Interpret classroom instruction, discussions, activities, and school-related events

• Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times

• Collaborate with teachers and other members of the educational team

• Support students' communication access and participation in the classroom

• Follow school policies and professional standards for educational interpreting

Requirements

• EIPA score of 3.5 or higher REQUIRED

• GA Educator Certification

• Previous experience as a Sign Language Interpreter in an educational setting preferred

• Strong ASL and English communication skills

• Ability to effectively interpret in a classroom environment
