A specialized opportunity is available for a Sign Language Interpreter to provide essential communication support within educational settings. Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret spoken language into American Sign Language (ASL) and vice versa during classroom instruction, meetings, and school events
- Collaborate with educators and support staff to ensure effective communication access for students
- Adapt interpreting strategies according to the educational setting and individual student needs
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold professional ethics at all times
- Participate in ongoing professional development related to sign language interpreting and education
Desired Qualifications:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with certified interpreting credentials preferred
- Experience working as a sign language interpreter in K-12 educational settings
- Strong understanding of Deaf culture and educational practices for Deaf and hard-of-hearing students
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Ability and willingness to travel to multiple school locations as assigned
