- National or state certification as a Sign Language Interpreter (such as EIPA, RID, or comparable credential)
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Previous experience working with children or in school settings is highly valued
- Strong sense of confidentiality and professionalism
- Ability to interpret a variety of topics and adapt communication styles for different ages and learning needs
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate communication between students who are Deaf or hard of hearing and teachers, staff, and peers
- Accurately interpret classroom lessons, instructions, and discussions in real time
- Support students full participation in both academic and extracurricular activities
- Collaborate with educators and school personnel to address specific student needs
