About the Opportunity
Sunbelt Staffing is seeking a skilled and dependable Sign Language Interpreter for a full-time, school-based position in Augusta, GA for the 20262027 school year. In this role, you will play a vital part in supporting students who are deaf or hard of hearing by ensuring clear and accurate communication in the classroom and across school environments.
Responsibilities
- Provide real-time interpretation between spoken English and American Sign Language (ASL)
- Support students in academic classes, school events, and extracurricular activities
- Collaborate with teachers, special education teams, and related service providers
- Adapt interpreting style to meet individual student needs and communication preferences
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards of the profession
- Assist in promoting an inclusive and accessible learning environment
Qualifications
- EIPA score of 3.5 or higher, or RID/NIC certification (required or preferred per district)
- Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Prior experience in educational or pediatric settings preferred
- Strong communication, adaptability, and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of deaf culture and best practices in educational interpreting
