Desired Qualifications:

  • Valid certification as an educational Sign Language Interpreter (such as EIPA, RID, or state credentials)
  • Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) and skilled at interpreting in academic settings
  • Experience working with children or young adults in schools or educational programs preferred
  • Strong interpersonal communication abilities, professionalism, and discretion
  • Dependability, adaptability, and the ability to work with diverse learners

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate clear and accurate communication between students who are deaf or hard of hearing, staff, and peers in classroom and campus activities
  • Interpret lesson content, discussions, assemblies, meetings, and extracurricular programming as assigned
  • Partner with educators and support staff to understand student needs and adapt interpreting approaches
  • Maintain confidentiality and ethics according to professional guidelines
  • Assist with the preparation of materials and resources to enhance student accessibility, as needed
