Provide crucial communication support to students in an educational setting by facilitating clear understanding between Deaf or hard-of-hearing individuals and others. Utilize your expertise as a Sign Language Interpreter to bridge communication gaps and ensure all students have access to a fully inclusive classroom experience. This contract position places you at the heart of student engagement and daily learning near Bixby, OK.
Desired Qualifications:
- Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Current certification as an interpreter (such as EIPA, RID, or state credentials preferred)
- Prior experience working as a Sign Language Interpreter in educational or school settings is advantageous
- Strong understanding of confidential communication practices within an educational environment
- Excellent interpersonal abilities and flexibility working with a diverse student population
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret classroom lessons, assignments, and discussions between teachers, staff, and Deaf/hard-of-hearing students
- Facilitate understanding during extracurricular activities, school assemblies, meetings, and parent conferences
- Collaborate with teachers and educational teams to adapt communication strategies as needed
