Key Qualifications:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with demonstrated interpreting skills
- Certification such as EIPA, RID, or equivalent (preferred)
- Prior experience interpreting in educational settings or working with children or adolescents is a plus
- Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional ethical standards
Responsibilities:
- Interpret classroom discussions, lectures, and school events, translating spoken content into ASL and vice versa
- Facilitate clear communication between students, teachers, and staff, ensuring full participation in both academic and extracurricular activities
- Assist with individualized educational plans as required by the IEP team
- Collaborate with educators to adapt instructional materials and communication supports as needed
- Serve as a language and cultural resource, supporting inclusion within the school community
