Qualifications and Experience:
- Current Illinois Sign Language Interpreter license required
- Demonstrated proficiency in ASL
- Prior experience working with high school students in educational settings preferred
- Familiarity with adapting communication strategies to meet diverse learning needs
- Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills
- Awareness of state and district-specific requirements for working in Illinois schools
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide sign language interpretation for high school students during classes, meetings, and school events
- Facilitate clear and accurate communication between students, teachers, and peers
- Support the implementation of individualized education plans (IEPs), ensuring goals are met
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times
- Monitor student progress and collaborate with educational teams to adapt strategies as needed
- Participate in school meetings and professional development as required
