This full-time assignment offers you the opportunity to facilitate communication and inclusion for young learners, making a genuine impact throughout the NSY 26/27 school year.
In this position, you will be the primary ASL Interpreter for one elementary school, working closely with several students who require specialized communication support. The setting encourages collaboration with teachers and staff, ensuring every childs needs are met in the classroom.
Ideal candidates will have:
- Prior experience as a Sign Language Interpreter in a school setting, preferably with elementary-aged students.
- National or state-certified Intervener Certification (required).
- Strong proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL).
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- The ability to adapt to various classroom activities and work as a supportive team member.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing real-time ASL interpretation for classroom instruction, group discussions, and school activities.
- Assisting multiple students with varying degrees of hearing loss or deafness within the elementary grades.
