Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
  • Experience as a Sign Language Interpreter, preferably in educational settings
  • Certification or licensure required by Illinois for interpreting in schools
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, administrators, and families
  • Adaptable, with strong communication and organizational skills

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver clear and accurate ASL interpretation for elementary students, teachers, and staff
  • Support classroom activities and enhance student engagement through effective communication
  • Travel between school sites as an itinerant interpreter to meet district needs
