Desired Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid and active SLI (Sign Language Interpreter) Certification required
- Previous experience in educational or school settings, ideally at the elementary level
- Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Familiarity with providing 1:1 interpreting support
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
- Commitment to ethical interpreting practices and confidentiality
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver 1:1 sign language interpreting services for an elementary student during all aspects of the school day
- Facilitate communication between the student, teachers, peers, and staff
- Adapt interpretation to diverse classroom settings, activities, and instructional styles
- Collaborate with educational professionals to monitor progress and support student needs
- Maintain accurate records and uphold guidelines for confidentiality and professional standards
