This position involves travel to multiple schools, providing essential communication assistance to deaf and hard-of-hearing students to enhance their learning experience and participation in the classroom.
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate clear and accurate communication between students, teachers, and staff using American Sign Language (ASL).
- Interpret spoken English into ASL and vice versa during classroom instruction, meetings, and school events.
- Collaborate with educators and support staff to ensure effective communication access and support tailored to student needs.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions with students and school personnel.
- Travel as required to various school sites within the designated area.
Desired Qualifications:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with demonstrated experience interpreting in an educational setting.
